Annual Clery Act Issue
This issue of our Center Watch Newsletter is being distributed in compliance with the Clery Act, formerly known as the Campus Safety and Security Act. In January each year Tulane University Health Sciences Center campus Clery statistics for the prior three years are forwarded to the uptown campus TUPD for inclusion with the University's annual report to the Department of Education.
The act applies to all public and private institutions of postsecondary education that receive federal funding. It mandates that schools publish a report every year by October 1st that contains the 3 prior years of campus crime statistics, and certain security policy statements that include how to report crimes, and the law enforcement authority of their campus police. This information supplements our daily incident log, and the crime statistics published monthly in the Center Watch newsletters . Information about the downtown campus police department, safety brochures and other safety related information can be found at our brochure rack at 1430 Tulane Avenue , in the Tidewater and Murphy Buildings , and included in orientation packets distributed at the Health Sciences Center Campus.
The department brochure and the statistical report for years 2006 through 2008 are attached to this issue. You may also find all of the above information at our Web site:
