Emergency Preparedness Planning for Departments and Groups
Each department should have a plan of action in the event an emergency arises. You should be familiar with your departments plan and practice it. Remember your safety comes first, if an alarm is sounded or an emergency situation is announced follow the directions given.
The knowledge of your work area and the proper escape route should an emergency arise could save your life. All staff members, students, and visitors should learn where all stairwells and emergency exits are located. Each floor of your building is required to have posted a floor plan indicating emergency exits and fire extinguisher locations. These floor plans can usually be found near an elevator or stairwell door. Should you have any problem locating them contact your supervisor immediately and inform them. This could save your life!!
