STATEMENT OF AUTHORITY

Tulane University Health Sciences Center Police Officers are trained at state certified police academies, meet the requirements of the Louisiana Peace Officer Standards of Training, and are commissioned to bear arms, make arrests and conduct investigations by State of Louisiana R.S. 17:1805. The Director of TUHSC Police Department has been appointed by the Chancellor of the Health Sciences Center. The Director has been designated as the person responsible for security and compliance with JCAHO standards relative to the Security Management Program at the hospital by the President and Chief Executive Officer of Tulane University Hospital and Clinic. Administration has delegated to the Director the authority to take action when a condition exists that could result in personal injury to individuals or damage to buildings or equipment.
